Two new candidates

We initiated two new candidates into Freemasonry, with a double ceremony, and another three in January.

Well done to all involved.

University Freshers Fayre 21

We have a stand at the University of Surrey Freshers Fayre on the 24th September 2021.

The Walk

On the 6th September Bro Nigel Lawton,  Mr Pete Hemmings (a candidate to be proposed at the next meeting) and Paul Cope walked the whole 25.7 miles from The Guildford Masonic Centre to the Surbiton Masonic Centre along the River Wey/Wey Navigation and the Thames.

W Bro Andrew Rowley provided well received support at various stages along the route.

At approximately half way (The White Hart at New Haw) we were joined by W Bro Mike Harding APGM and W Bro Andrew Pettinger from Woking Lodge.  

At our brief Lunch stop (the Weir Hotel, Walton on Thames) we were greeted with a very welcome drink from the Rt W Provincial Grand Master Ian Chandler.

At Hampton Court Bridge W Bro Nigel Godden joined us for the last few miles.  Nigel had organised a meal for us at the Surbiton Centre.

We handed the Cup to Larry Hands of Claygate Lodge for the penultimate section of its journey to finish at Freemasons’ Hall for the Quarterly Communications.

Biological Sciences Prize 2021

Bro. Lorenzo Santorelli presented the Biological Sciences Prize to Charles Dorris at the University of Surrey, donated by Onslow Lodge 2234.

Freshers Fair 2020

We elected not to have a stall at this years Freshers Fair held at the Surrey University, due to the Covid virus, but I have included a some of the links to the event.

Covid-19 Appeal

Onslow Benevolent fund sent a cheque to the Masonic Charity foundation for £1000.00, which was doubled by the MCF to assist the NHS in these difficult times.

The Benevolent fund also donated £500 to the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.

Promotion

At the April Meeting of Grand Lodge, W. Bro Andrew Vallance is to be promoted from PDepGSwdB to Grand Sword Bearer – a great honour for W. Bro. Vallance and an honour for this Lodge.

 

 

Installation

W.Bro. Ian Greenep was installed in the chair of king Solomon, In the presents of V.W.Bro. M. Yalden and W.Bro. Bill Withers, with Bro. Alessio Taormina giving a lovely rendition of the Master’s song

 

Christmas Carol Carvery

Gerry Yockney hosted another successful carol carvery yesterday at the Guildford Masonic Centre. The raffle raised £215 for Prostate Cancer and Teddies for Loving Care.

50 Years of Service

W.Bro. Mike Dillon received his Fifty year service certificate from the R.W.Bro Ian Michael Chandler, Provincial Grand Master, who went on to give Mike a field promotion to PPJGW.
